| Any leftover bread cut into large cubes. You will need approximately 6 cups. | |
| Any filling: ideas include Figs and Gorgonzola, Ham and Cheese, Italian Sausage or any sausage. | |
| 1 | quart heavy cream |
| 4 | eggs |
| salt and pepper |
Pour egg and cream mixture over bread and filling (enough to cover).
Let rest at room temperature for 15 minutes or so. Bake at 350 in a ceramic baking dish in a water bath for 45-55 minutes. Strata should be just set and golden brown.
Cut into wedges and serve.
